Modification Team Leaders (MTLs)/Field Team Leaders (FTLs) and Project Engineers:

MDG has a group of highly trained and competent Modification Team Leaders (MTLs)/Project Engineers who can lead your project through the modification process.  From a minor modification to a full-blown megaproject, we can help you.

We have two options, seconded staff or managed task setup.  The activities of the MTL include but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate detailed design activities with DTL

  • Obtain weekly status reports from Design Service Provider(s)

  • Setup and chair Construction Operation Maintenance Systems (COMS) meetings

  • Lead the constructability reviews at various completion levels of the detailed design

  • Review, concur and control the revision of the Release plan

  • Initiate Material Requests (MRs), if required for free issue material

  • Inform assessing of changes to design package (Field Initiated Change (FIC) or intend)

  • Initiate Temporary Change Records (TCRs) for Temporary Modifications (TMODs)

  • Fill in the Field Team Lead (FTL) role (MTL = FTL) during field execution

  • Establish the Available for Service (AFS)/Operations acceptance strategy ahead of time

  • Coordinate the preparation of the Work Plans

  • Ensure new Cat-IDs have been set to READY prior to the start of installation

  • Set the Design EC to ACTIVE status when the installation starts

  • Review Issue Tracking File (ITF) frequently

  • Develop Installation and AFS strategy

  • Include Work Plans and Work Orders (WOs) under the applicable Design EC Cross-Reference

  • Document any installation issues on the ITF and champion resolution of issues

  • Collaborate with DTL on FIC or Intend change

  • Arrange post-installation walkdown with all stakeholders

  • Provide installation and commissioning oversight

  • Ensure all FICs are included in an EC revision prior to AFS

  • Prepare and coordinate all of the AFS activities (e.g. AFS Report, AFS Declaration Form, AFS walkdown and meeting)

  • Coordinate TMOD removal

  • Coordinate Closeout activities (Design ECs and Master ECs)
