Engineering
MDG has a professional group of engineers whose whole focus is on facilitating construction. The following are the construction engineering services offered:
Lift and Rigging Engineering
Prepare and review Lift Plans and ensure compliance with applicable requirements and standards from appropriate sources such as OSHA, Provincial and Federal government, as well as adopting engineering and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) suggested best practices
Prepare and P.Eng backup calculations for various critical and complex lift plans
Review complex and critical lift plans when prepared by master rigor, from a technical aspect:
Adequacy of lift points
Load distribution
Design documentation
Crane capacity
Lifting tools
Codes and standards
Safety factors
Temporary structures
Review pre-engineered lifts and drawings produced by sub-contractors such as Hercules, Mammoet, etc
Conduct walk downs
Facilitate the completion through the client’s stakeholders (safety and maintenance). P.Eng. of the structural assessments at the interface points within the station. This includes lifting beams, floors, and walls
Facilitate the review and acceptance of client’s Engineering when required
Sign off as Reviewed by on the Lift Plans
Drill and anchor Cards process:
Ensure drawings are updated to record configuration changes resulting from Concrete Drilling and Chipping (CDC) activity
Resolve recommendations for discovered inaccuracies and update drawings
Assist in resolving requests for cutting of embedment and reinforced steel
Sign off as reviewed by the CDC
Scaffold Engineering:
·Work with the Scaffolding group by inspecting standard scaffolds
Prepare calculations and detailed sketches for any engineered scaffolding
Prepare lift point details and any associated backup calculations
P.Eng engineered deliverables
Shoring and Excavation Engineering:
Prepare shoring and excavations requirements based on site conditions and Geotechnical report
Prepare and P.Eng shoring and excavation drawings and any associated calculations
